Cantabrian Girls Ex-Students' Association

The Cantabrian Girls Ex-Students’ Association or COG (Cantabrian Old Girls) was formed in 1982, mainly as a ‘help’ group for present day students.

Since 1994 we have sponsored an outstanding Year 10 student with a scholarship (presently valued at $1000) to assist her in continuing with her studies through to Year 12. Eligible applicants are assessed on their scholastic abilities, communication skills and their interaction with other students. They are girls whose families would find it financially difficult to keep them at school for the extra two years. Our past scholarship recipients have all done very well in the HSC examinations and most have gone on to university, so we are very proud that we have been able to support them in their achievements.

From 2003, our 21st year, we commenced awarding Dux prizes for the duxes of Year 7 through to Year 12.

To fund these projects, we have both committee and member meetings and we hold an annual event. The members’ meetings are followed by afternoon tea. Guest speakers are often a feature as well as tours of the school.

These activities are fund raisers to support the students and are an opportunity for meeting up with old friends.

Membership is $30 for three years. Membership key rings, pens, CGHS history booklets and tea towels can be purchased at the meetings or we can arrange to send them to you by mail. Members receive the COG Newsletter and invitations to all events.
